At the end of the road there'll be an automatic event and follow the red arrow to the Village of Besaid.
After the cutscene, Wakka will ask if you know "the Prayer". Choose any of the two answers and Wakka will teach it to you.
From there, it's time for some exploration!

Once you're done exploring the village, enter the nearby temple and approach the statues to trigger a cutscene. After talking to the monk in the Temple of Yevon-Besaid, return to Wakka's house and take a nap. Return to the Temple after waking up and talk to Wakka to get access to the Cloister of Trials.
= Besaid Temple - Cloister of Trials =
TREASURE ITEMS | Rod of Wisdom (Yuna weapon) |
There are several Cloister of Trials throughout the game, but the basic system behind each is the same. Use the different spheres (Temple Spheres, Glyph Spheres, and Destruction Spheres) to gain access to the inner sections by putting them into the pedestal or recesses in the walls. Various seals and writing on the walls will also cause changes in the Halls.
- Examine the first glyph to the north, then touch the glyph to the right to reveal a stairway
- Take the stairs down and approach the Glyph Sphere in the next room and retrieve it.
- Make your way towards the locked door and insert the Glyph Sphere to open the door.
- After opening the door, retrieve the Glyph Sphere again
- Enter the next hall and use the Glyph Sphere on the wall to reveal the Destruction Sphere. Leave the Destruction Sphere for now and move to the next hall
- Now, in the next room, go west and you'll see an empty pedestal; examine the glyphs on the wall on the opposite side of it to reveal a Besaid Sphere
- Take the Besaid Sphere inside and insert it into the pedestal to reveal the exit. But do not move the pedestal just yet!
- Backtrack to the previous hall and retrieve the Destruction Sphere and then place it in the room where you took the Besaid Sphere. This will reveal a special treasure where you'll find the Rod of Wisdom
- With the treasure in hand, go back to where the pedestal is and push it towards the shining glyph on the floor to complete this trial.

After clearing the cloister, there will be an event in the Plaza where Yuna will make her first attempt at summoning the Aeon Valefor.
After the scene with the Aeon, it's time for some mingling! Speak with Yuna and then speak to Wakka to get some rest.
BESAID ISLAND DREAM SEQUENCE
When Tidus goes to sleep, he'll begin a short dream sequence. When he stands up at the dock, move forward and approach Yuna to complete the sequence.
On the following morning, exit the lodge and Tidus will receive a new weapon from Wakka, the Brotherhood.
After the cutscene, go back to Besaid Village one more time and enter the Item Shop and speak to the store clerk. From there, head to the Weaver's Shop on the northeast (next to Wakka's hut) and talk to the dog to receive Valefor's second Overdrive,Energy Blast.
With all the items in hand, exit the village and make your way up the mountainside. You will participate in several tutorial battles, each for a certain command. For the first battle, you'll learn the following:
