North London power shift means Spurs will be better than Arsenal for years

Difference between these two at Wembley was only one goal, but in reality the gulf in quality was massive

THERE has been a Premier League power shift between the two clubs in North London over the last couple of seasons.

And Saturday’s 1-0 win for Tottenham was the latest proof, if anyone needed it, that Spurs will remain dominant over Arsenal for some time to come.

Unbelievably, the difference between these two at Wembley was only one goal, but in reality the gulf in quality was massive.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino prepares for Juventus in the Champions League on Tuesday in what could be proper box office fare.

In contrast, Arsene Wenger takes his team to the edge of the Arctic Circle 48 hours later to take on Ostersunds.

You would hope Wenger has prepared a scouting report for a Europa League match against Swedish opposition.

Tottenham 1-0 Arsenal: Harry Kane seals North London bragging rights and fires Spurs into third and seven points clear of their neighbours

At the very least he should tell them to take different boots as they will be on an artificial pitch.

As SunSport revealed, Newport’s FA Cup dossier on Spurs was on the money — yet it appears Arsenal’s players were denied some basic information.

HE’S OUR MAN Man Utd and City to do battle over the summer signing of Harry Maguire

Either that, or Laurent Koscielny forgot the bit in the scouting report which stated that when the ball is in the air near Harry Kane, it is probably best to jump.

Otherwise, the bloke who is really good and holds a 16-year-old grudge over Arsenal might score.

That is what happened but it was the other mistakes and lack of intensity and organisation which should have seen Spurs lead by at least three goals before they nearly messed it up.

Arsenal fans had every right to get excited when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan signed.

Neither played well and while Aubameyang can argue the service was non-existent, Mkhitaryan had a stinker.

With Granit Xhaka and Mohamed Elneny not good enough in central midfield, Arsenal’s back four were once again exposed.

Although Arsenal still need a keeper long-term, Petr Cech at least proved why he has enjoyed such an outstanding career and why he is not completely finished.

This is why Arsenal must add proven, top-class defenders and midfielders in the summer.

Equally, you have to wonder what happened to Alexandre Lacazette when he crossed the channel. For one thing, while going through passport control, his name changed to Lacaconfidence.

At the post-match press conferences, Pochettino took issue with why he preferred Davinson Sanchez to fit-again Toby Alderweireld.

And then Wenger blew that out of the water by claiming the game should have been over by half-time in Arsenal’s favour.

It seems the only catalyst of change at the Emirates will be when Wenger leaves because it looks like North London will be blue and white for some time.
