We’ve been waiting for something like this for a while, but it isnt conveniently available in stores and honestly feels like this set doesn’t know what its own identity even is. Is it an army builder? A base builder? A CLONE army builder with three templates? (Are random heads too difficult when we’ve had them on storm troopers in the past?) No matter what you do, you are going to have twice as many weapons as you need with no good way of integrating them into your display. You either have a bunch of rifles sitting around or some heavy mounted guns sitting around. There’s already a perfectly good turret build, so the cannons and weird radio things are just there to justify the price point. Instead of redundant and idle equipment Lego could have easily dedicated those pieces to some cover like in the snow trooper battle pack, especially considering the rebels were the ones that were supposed to have trenches and snow-built cover in the first place. I got 3 of these for christmas and tried my best to make a trench with the help of pieces provided by my snow trooper battle pack, but all the extra equipment lying around is pretty hard to make up for without a dedicated lego bin at my new place.

This set initially feels overpriced. However once I started making the builds. I was thinking this is a really good army builder. With 5 different head expressions, 2 different bodies and legs and goggles up or down you can customise a great deal of variety in your Hoth rebel defense force. You won't need 2 E-webs for every 3 troopers so the legs can replace the stud shooters on any other battle packs you own. The power packs can be used with the Imperial E-webs in there battle packs too. The barrels for the E-webs look fantastic and better looking than the Imperial ones. The utility of this little set is actually really impressive. Nothing will be wasted if you buy large numbers of these.

I bought this set for my grandson, who is a huge fan of both Star Wars and LEGO. This set will be part of a gift bag full of various LEGO Star Wars minifigures. I think he will be surprised that old Nana found this entire set with both the figures and the weapons. I can't speak to its durability or its entertainment value, but I think he will like it a lot.

These blister packs were one of the best things Lego Star Wars ever released. The possibilities were endless. The only way I'd improve them is by making them named characters like Han, Luke, and Leia to make it an affordable way for kids to get these characters. But, if they were to be released again as a mini battlepack like these two were, I wouldn't be mad. Please please PLEASE release more
