‘The Predator’ Will Explore Why the Predators Have Come to Earth

In Shane Black’s The Predator, releasing next year, a group of unsuspecting humans slowly realize that fierce hunter-aliens are in their midst, this time in a suburban setting.

As we learned earlier this year, Jake Busey will star as the son of his real-life father Gary’s character from Predator 2, connecting Black’s franchise reboot to the original series. In a new chat with Pop Culture, Busey explains the connection, while also teasing one of the primary questions that The Predator will set out to answer.

Jake said the new film is set after the second one,” the site reports. “Predator 2 was released in 1990, but took place in a 1997 Los Angeles ravaged by gang violence. The third movie, 2010’s Predators, took place on another world and wasn’t set in a specific year. So, The Predator will take place between those two movies.”

This one definitely falls in line with the original franchise in that it does focus on the technology that the Predators have,” Busey himself told the site. “It focuses on what the goal of the Predators is, and what their modus operandi, and why they come to the planet, and that type of thing. It’s definitely in line with the original franchise.”

Sounds like they’re not here simply to hunt us for sport…

Thomas Jane, Keegan-Michael Key, Olivia Munn, Boyd Holbrook, Edward James Olmos, Trevante Rhodes, Augusto Aguilera, Alfie Allen, and Yvonne Strahovski also star.

The Predator arrives in theaters August 3, 2018.

In the bloody wake of shark attack movies 47 Meters Down (2017) and 47 Meters Down: Uncaged (2019), the franchise will return with third installment 47 Meters Down: The Wreck.

Deadline reports that Patrick Lussier (Drive Angry, My Bloody Valentine 3D) will be directing the third 47 Meters Down movie, with FilmNation launching sales in Cannes.

Johannes Roberts and Ernest Riera co-wrote the upcoming third movie’s screenplay. Roberts had previously directed both 47 Meters Down and its first sequel, Uncaged.

Deadline details in their exclusive report this morning, “The story will follow a father who is determined to rebuild his relationship with his daughter as they bond during a scuba diving in beautiful tropical waters while exploring a famous shipwreck. But soon after their descent, their master diver has an accident leaving them alone and unprotected inside the labyrinth of the wreck. As tensions rise and oxygen dwindles, the pair must use their newfound bond to escape the wreck and the relentless barrage of bloodthirsty great white sharks.”

47 Meters Down: The Wreck is the perfect continuation of our shark-filled franchise,” said producer Byron Allen, who is the founder/chairman/CEO of Allen Media Group. “This film will once again have moviegoers terrified and on the edge of their seats.”

“We can’t wait for audiences to be trapped underwater with us again,” added Roberts. “47 Meters Down: The Wreck is going to be the biggest, most-intense film of this franchise.”

The original 47 Meters Down, which trapped sisters in the water with hungry sharks, scared up $62 million at the box office, while 47 Meters Down: Uncaged took the franchise to an underwater cave system and managed to end its worldwide box office run with $47.5 million.
