Product Description

HepvO is a self-sealing valve designed to close the waste connection below a sanitary fixture to prevent the escape of foul sewer air into the dwelling. HepvO unlike conventional waste traps, does not rely on trapped water to create a seal. Instead, HepvO uses a self-sealing membrane, which performs the same function as a water seal trap but without the risk of evaporation, siphonage, or cracking under freezing conditions. The HepvO valve means enhanced plumbing design and system efficiency, without compromising performance or risking the escape of foul air into the living space from the drain or sewer. Typical Applications: Lavatories, bath tubs, sinks, bidets, washing machines, garbage disposals, overflows, dishwashers or showers.

I still don't know why these aren't code for residential use in most places...they've been used throughout Europe and the UK for years...I suspect it has something to do with lobbying efforts from plumber unions. Anyway, mine works flawlessly and I saved a ton of space under my sink.

I was skeptical about these working but nothing ever got caught in the inner silicone and I've never smelled anything coming from my septic system. They've been there for a few years now and also never froze. Make sure to install them so that all water drains out and you don't get clogged up with ice.

Found out after buying my house that one of my mini split condensate lines was ran into the sewage which caused foul odor in the room. Use this as a condensate drain to prevent sewer odors from coming up since the condensate line goes straight into sewage. It was extremely difficult to find the pipes and connections to make this work since this is mainly for sinks. But the documentation says it can be used for condensate lines and so it is. Works great a little ugly but does the job. Amazing how little water it takes to flow down the membrane. Makes a very good condensate p trap solution.

I converted a 1999 Ford E350 ambulance into an overland camper. There was no room under the sink to install a conventional P trap, and I definitely did not want odors from the wastewater holding tank pushing back up into the interior!
