Juve striker sidelined for two weeks with thigh problem

Juventus have announced that Alessandro Del Piero will be sidelined for around two weeks after picking up a knock in training. The veteran striker suffered a muscle strain during Thursday's session and the extent of the damage has now been revealed following a scan. An official statement read: "Alessandro Del Piero underwent medical tests this morning following a muscle injury sustained during yesterday's training session. "The MRI scan at the Clinica Fornaca and the ultrasound given at the Istituto di Medicina dello Sport have fortunately ruled out any serious muscular tears. "Instead, the scans showed a strain in the long adductor muscle of his left thigh. It is estimated that Del Piero will be able to return to action in around 15 days." Del Piero is therefore set to miss the Serie A matches against Roma and Genoa, before possibly returning for the trip to Fiorentina on 17th April. While there is relief that Del Pero is not seriously injured, news of his lay-off still comes as a blow after Giorgio Chiellini was ruled out for a month with a similar problem earlier this week.
