What We Do

Tunescribers is the world’s leading provider of services for musicians. Our services have been used by tens of thousands of songwriters, publishers and music lovers around the world since 2017. Here’s a summary of what we can do for you:

Sheet Music Transcription: We can turn any song into sheet music! We start with an audio recording of your song, either a link to the file on YouTube, SoundCloud, or other online location, or with a file in MP3 or other audio format. Then a member of our worldwide team of transcription experts listens to it and carefully transcribes it into sheet music. This is usually called “music transcription” but is sometimes called “audio to sheet music” or “transcribing music to notes.”


You can tell us to either transcribe the song exactly as we hear it (“note for note transcription”), or to create a new arrangement (for example, converting a full orchestral performance into a simpler piano-and-vocals arrangement). We can also arrange your song as just chords-and-vocals, sometimes called a “lead sheet” or “fake sheet.” And we can transpose the song, shifting it up or down to whatever key you like.


When we’re finished, we send you the end result, called a “musical score,” “musical notation,” or simply “music notes.” You get the score in three different file formats: a PDF file that is the actual sheet music, Streamable Audio that allows you to listen to the sheet music, and a MusicXML file in case you want to load the sheet music into a music editing or playback system. If you wish, we can also provide many other file formats including MUSX for Finale, GP for GuitarPro, MSCZ for MuseScore, SIB for Sibelius, and MIDI. If you have a guitar part, we can transcribe it using standard notation, guitar tablature, or both.

Sheet Music Arrangements: We can make your song sound any way that you want it to! We can reorchestrate the song by adding, removing or changing the instruments. We can change the vocal parts, make the song faster or slower, easier or more complex, even change the musical style. We can add or change the introduction (intro) or ending (called the “coda”, “outro” or “outtro”). And of course we can transpose the song, shifting it up or down to whatever key you like.


The most common type of arrangement that we do is to convert a song into piano and vocal (PAV), where we combine all the instruments into a single 2-handed piano part, and combine the vocals into a solo vocal. But we can also do more complex arrangements.


Just like with transcription, we start with an audio recording of your song, either a link to the file on YouTube, SoundCloud, or other online location, or with a file in MP3 or other audio format. (We can also work from existing sheet music, either digital or handwritten.) Then a member of our team listens to it, makes the changes you asked for, and carefully transcribes it into sheet music. Backing Tracks: These are audio recordings of a rhythm section or other accompaniment parts that you can play along with or sing along to. They allow singers and bands to add parts to their music which would be impractical or impossible to perform live, such as string section or choir parts which were recorded in the studio. You can add bass, drums and keyboards to your live shows without needing to hire extra musicians. Or your small band can use backing tracks to add strings, horns, drums and/or backing vocals to your live shows.

Piano Performance Videos: These are videos of a highly skilled professional musician playing whatever keyboard song you choose. You’ll hear the performance, see the pianist’s hands, and see each note as it’s played dropping down on the screen. These are also called “piano visualizer” or “piano video with particles.”

Karaoke Videos: Everyone knows what karaoke is – it’s a way to sing along to recorded music, with the lyrics displayed on a TV or computer monitor. A “singalong video” is just like karaoke, but with the audio included in the recording. We can create a karaoke or singalong version of any song in CD+G format to play in a karaoke machine, or an MP4 format to play on a computer or mobile device.

Songs for Sale: We have transcribed and arranged thousands of different songs over the years, and many of these are available for you to purchase at a deeply discounted price.


When you purchase an existing song from us, you always get a PDF sheet music file. Depending on the licensing arrangement that we have with the music publisher, you may also get a MusicXML file and other file formats including MUSX for Finale, GP for GuitarPro, MSCZ for MuseScore, SIB for Sibelius, and MIDI. For other songs, you get the PDF and also the ability to listen to a computer-generated MP3 file of the song on our website.


Note that when you purchase a song from us, you can play the music for your own personal enjoyment, but you are not purchasing public performance rights. Those must be purchased directly from the song’s publisher or copyright holder. Please refer to the ASCAP website for more information on music licensing.
