Lipizzaner Stallions, Spanish Andalusians, Friesians and majestic Arabians are set to be showcased in “El Caballo Blanco — Gala of the Royal Horses” equestrian show at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the High Desert Event Center, 14800 Seventh St. in Victorville.

According to René Gasser, creator of the show, the royal horses are some of the most celebrated in history, favored for centuries by royalty, equestrian riders and bullfighters.

He said his production celebrates the tradition, athleticism and grace of the revered creatures and not only appeals to horse enthusiasts but anyone who loves thrilling entertainment.

“The unique qualities of the royal horses single them out from all other breeds in the equine world,” said Gasser. “Their physical beauty and grace, coupled with exceptional courage and nobility, make them an object of admiration and a source of inspiration for horse lovers everywhere.”

Gasser said the “Gala of The Royal Horses” is dedicated to bringing awareness to the amazing maneuvers the horses are capable of. One stunt, “The Airs Above The Ground,” is a time-honored tradition in Europe’s military. Another stunt, “Roman Riding,” will feature performer Gigi Gasser standing atop a pair of horses with one foot on each horse while they trot across the arena.

“If you go to a typical dressage show, unless you’re really a fanatic about the sport, it’s not all that exciting,” said Gasser. “But our show is meant to entertain and there’s never a dull moment.”

Along with “Gala of the Royal Horses,” Gasser has been touring the world since 2006 with his various productions, including “Lipizzaners With the Stars,” "Equestra" and "The Horseman from Snowy River.”

He admits travelling with the horses is a feat that is almost as impressive as the stunts they perform.

“Coordinating this production is a big job,” said Gasser. “It takes a whole crew of people just to look after the horses and then there’s the logistics of everything, such as finding the right barn, etc.

“But it’s a real labor of love and there’s nothing more satisfying than watching the faces of people in the audience when they witness this spectacle. All they can say, is, 'Wow.'”

Tickets to the “Royal Gala of Horses” are $40 for adults, $30 for seniors and $15 for children. VIP tickets are $50 for adults and seniors and $25 for children. VIP tickets include a post-show meet and greet with Gasser and the horses, as well as a question-and-answer session.
